| The Fila Brasileiro is a wonderful breed developed in Brazil, the loyalty of these dogs to their owners is impossible to describe. Fila means “to hold” in Portuguese.
Filas are great family dogs, amazingly gentle and loving with the family unit. However, they do not like strangers, because of this last characteristic, a Fila is not a dog for everyone. Their main function is that of a guard & personal protection dog. They have very strong protective instincts, therefore need no training in order to perform the job for which they were created. They are known for never challenging family members. These dogs are extremely caring & submissive with their immediate family only! They do not accept strangers. We fell in love with Filas several years ago when we got our first puppy. Presently we own 2 filas, 1 black & 1 fawn (the color black is the rarest in this breed). We are so proud of them and want to share our experiences with all dog owners in the world. “Loyal as a Fila” is a saying in Brazil. In Memoriam
I did not carry you inside of me for 9 months like a real baby, I did not bring you into this world, But I was present the very moment when you were conceived And I did hold you in my hands when you cried for the 1st time. Baby Puma you were only a dog to the world, but in my heart you were my child, my son. even when for many that might sound wrong or absurd. For 8 years, just the expression on your big face made me smile, and how many times you showed me your love by licking the tears of sadness pouring from my eyes. Puma, my giant champion of huge paws, my beautiful black Fila with the whitest spot on the chest, I already miss your unmistakable bark welcoming me into the house. I miss your presence and I wish you were still alive. Like most loyal canines, you dedicate your existence to us, imperfect humans And I know I will remember you forever, or until we meet again in the afterlife. |

| Hasta pronto campeón.... No te llevé en mi vientre por 9 meses como a un niño de verdad, ni siquiera te trajé a este mundo. Pero estuve presente desde el mismo momento que tu vida empezó y fue en mis manos que lloraste por primera vez. .. Perrito Puma,fuiste tan solo eso, un perro para muchos en este mundo .Pero en mi corazón fuiste mi hijo, aunque eso suene errado o absurdo. Por 8 años la sola expresión de tu enorme rostro me hizo sonreir y cuántas veces me demostraste tu amor lamiendo las lágrimas de tristeza o alegría que brotaban de mis ojos. Puma, mi super campeón, mi hermoso Fila negro con la más blanca mancha en su pecho, apenas te has ido y ya extraño tus inconfudibles ladridos , retumbando por toda la casa con un especial eco. Extraño tu presencia y desearía siguieras aquí conmigo , pues, como la mayoría de fieles canes dedicaste toda tu existencia, a nosotros, humanos imperfectos, incapaces de amar sin esperar recompensa. Por eso y mucho más, sé que te recordaré siempre o hasta reunirnos de nuevo , en la vida que precede a la muerte. |
